Viewing Tips for the Unemployment Insurance Minnesota Web site
(www.uimn.org)

Welcome to the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance (UI) Web site. We've designed this site to be an easy-to-use one-stop for information and services about UI.

Topics for viewing our site are:

Screen Resolution/Text Size

This site is best viewed at 800x600 screen resolution with Netscape (4.x or higher) or Internet Explorer (4.x or higher).

To change your screen resolution (increasing or decreasing text size) for all subsequent viewings:

  1. Right-mouse click anywhere on the empty area of the Windows desktop.
  2. A pop-up window appears. Select "Properties". The "Display Properties" window opens.
  3. Select the "Settings" tab at the top of the window. In the new window that appears, at "Desk Top Area" or "Screen Area," there is a bar with a down-pointing arrow. The arrow is set at your monitor's default resolution; moving it to the left increases the size of the icons on your desktop, the web images, and the text size on sites you visit (the largest resolution is 640x480). Moving the arrow to the right results in smaller icons, images, and text.
  4. Position the arrow where you want it and click "Apply." Windows will display a pop-up message asking whether you want to test the new settings. Select "OK." When the settings reset, if you are satisfied with the size, select "OK." The new setting is now your default resolution.

Another option for increasing/decreasing text size is to change settings on your browser. Note that some Internet sites have pre-selected font sizes that can't be changed.

For Internet Explorer browsers:
  • At the top toolbar, select "View."
  • Highlight "Text Size." A side-box appears, providing options. The default setting is at "Medium," as indicated by the black dot to the left of the word.
  • Select an option to either increase or decrease font size.

For Netscape browsers:

  • At the top toolbar, select "View."
  • Highlight "Text Zoom." A side-box appears, providing options. The default setting is at "100%," as indicated by the black dot to the left of the word. (Note: Older versions of Netscape use "Increase Font" or "Decrease Font" in the "View" tool.)
  • Select an option to either increase or decrease font size.
