Unemployment benefits are taxable income under both federal and Minnesota state law. January 31, 2012 - All 1099-Gs have been mailed. The amount listed in box 1 includes all unemployment insurance payments (regular and extended benefit payments) made to an individual during 2011. The form was sent to the address on record as of December 31, 2011.

Overpayments The amount on IRS Form 1099-G does not include any overpayments or adjustments to your account, it only shows payments made to you. The instructions on your federal tax forms explain how to make adjustments for repayments.
