INACTIVATE OR REACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT

Inactivate

If you are back to work full-time, or want to stop requesting benefit payments for any reason, you can just stop requesting. No other notification is needed. Keep your Password and unemployment debit card (if you have one), in case you need to reactivate your account.

Reactivate

As long as you have a balance in your benefit account, your account is good for one year after you apply. You must reactivate your account the first week you become unemployed again or otherwise want your benefits to resume. Reactivate by logging in to your account online at www.uimn.org or by calling the automated phone system.

WITHDRAWING YOUR ACCOUNT

If you have not become eligible and served a waiting week on a benefit account, you can withdraw it and file a new one. You might choose to do this because the new account may have a different base period, resulting in a higher weekly or maximum benefit amount. The self-service online and phone systems will provide you with these choices if you reactivate an account on which you have not served a waiting week.
