INFORMATION HANDBOOK

questions

If you have read this Information Handbook and still have questions, there are more ways to get answers.

  • If you have access to the Internet, go to the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Web site at www.uimn.org
    • Click on Applicant Login to log in to your online account. From your home page, you will be able to see:
      • the payments made to you, and your account balance;
      • your withholding and deductions;
      • your base period earnings that determined your benefit amounts;
      • the total amount of benefits paid to you for a specific period of time;
      • any completed determinations;
      • any issues, pending determinations, or appeals that need your attention or response.
    • Click on Applicant Information to get up-to-date information.
  • If you do not have access to the Internet or still have questions after you have looked at your account online, call the automated phone system. You will be given the option to speak directly to an unemployment insurance (UI) representative.
    • Twin Cities area: 651-296-3644
    • Greater Minnesota: 1-877-898-9090
    • TTY (for the deaf and hard of hearing): 1-866-814-1252
      • Only staff working in the UI program have the training and information to answer your questions.
      • When you use the automated phone system, you will be asked to enter your Social Security number and password. This login process is designed to help protect your privacy and helps the UI representative answer your question more quickly.
      • UI representatives answer over a million calls every year. Every effort is made to keep wait times as short as possible, however, sometimes a large number of calls come in at once and wait times are longer. It is generally best to avoid calling on Mondays and avoid calling in the morning, if possible. Mondays usually have the highest number of calls and more calls are received in the mornings than in the afternoons.
