Pending Issues

During your application, you answer questions about why you are unemployed and other income you are receiving. If you are unemployed for reasons other than a layoff, the Unemployment Insurance Program must gather facts about what happened from both you and your former employer to determine if you are eligible for benefits. A written decision will be mailed to you within three weeks after your application, notifying you if you will receive benefits or not. During this process, a pending issue status will be placed on your account.

If you indicated on your application that you have other income such as severance pay or a pension, a similar process and timeframe applies. You will be mailed a determination informing you if the income reduces or delays the start of your unemployment benefits.
