Form 1099-G

Unemployment benefits are taxable income under both federal and Minnesota state law.

  • January 31, 2013 - All 1099-Gs have been mailed. The amount listed in box 1 includes all unemployment insurance payments (regular and extended benefit payments) made to an individual during 2012. The form was sent to the address on record as of December 31, 2012.
  • Form 1099-Gs are mailed every year in January to the address we have on record for you. Keep the address on your account up-to-date for at least four years after your last request for a benefit payment. Even after you stop requesting benefits, your account may be audited or we may need to contact you for other reasons. If we can’t reach you, audit findings will be made without your input and you will be responsible for any overpayments that might result.
