Who is an agent

An "agent" is an entity that acts on behalf of an employer (the agent's client) to handle the employer's Unemployment Insurance (UI) obligations.

Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) must use the agent self-service system for filing wage detail reports that must be linked to their clients' experience rated accounts. Using the agent system does not mean the PEO is not the employer of record.

To use the online UI system as an agent, you must be registered as an agent with the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Program.
